Trauma

Trauma is something no one deserves, yet many people experience it in different ways. Its impact can be confusing, painful, and difficult to put into words. Healing often begins with a safe space where you can speak openly and be met with understanding rather than judgment. You are not to blame for what happened to you.

I am Kisstopher Musick, PhD,  lead therapist at Adjustment Guidance. I work with clients to gently process and understand trauma, whether it involves current circumstances or the lasting effects of past experiences.

Our work begins with talk therapy, creating a safe, confidential space to explore how trauma may be affecting your well-being, relationships, emotions, and sense of safety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) then provides practical tools to help you feel more grounded, manage distressing thoughts, and process difficult emotions and memories at a manageable pace. Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) supports this work by helping calm the brain’s threat system and strengthen a deeper sense of inner safety, especially when trauma responses such as fight, flight, freeze, or fawn feel overwhelming.

If you are currently in a difficult or unsafe situation, we can focus first on practical steps to support your safety and help you make decisions at a pace that feels right for you.

My approach is calm, supportive, and client-centered. The goal is to create an environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported as you move forward.

You do not have to go through this alone. If you feel ready, I invite you to reach out by email or schedule an initial Zoom session.
